About Kavalan

This consolidates to make the quality, perfection, and fruity character for which Kavalan is known.

Kavalan takes Yilan County's old name. A place where there is endowments, it was here that business person Mr.Tien-Tsai Lee longed for another whisky country and 'extremely old' distillery to last ages.

Mr.T.T. Lee's aspiration to make Taiwan's first whisky took him over the old world to the consecrated refineries of Scotland and Japan. He knew to contend, Taiwan must be world-class, and this tried each ligament of his determination.

Kavalan Single Malt

Kavalan Classic Single Malt Whisky represents the sheer nature of whisky coming out of Taiwan. The craftsmanship of the distillery works with the muggy Taiwanese atmosphere to make a whisky that is differing and complex. New and clean, the soul is rich with plush perfection and traces of tropical natural products, mango specifically. The Classic bottling here is aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks but mostly of the refill variety.

Tasting Note

  • Palate: A hint of sweet mango juice with that spicy complexity and gentle warmth on a medium, oily and citrus finish.

  • Finish: A touch of allspice, vanilla and fragrant pear skin.
